Real Estate Matters
- Representing developer in financing $6.3 million land acquisition, including development, and negotiation of public/private partnership involving construction of local government offices, community childrens' museum, retail, office, and residential units;
- Represent regional property investors, owners and managers regarding general leasing, land use issues, and litigation with respect to a large portfolio of retail, shopping center, office, warehouse, and flex space properties across North Carolina;
- Represented developer of a neighborhood shopping center in a prestigious
North Carolina resort area and was instrumental in successfully securing
special use permit and other entitlements necessary for development and construction
of a project which faced fierce public and neighborhood opposition, and prevailed
on appeal after unsuccessful challenge of special
use permit;
- Represented property owner and successfully secured rezoning, driveway access, utilities infrastructure, and negotiated development agreement necessary
for development and construction of a 42 acre mixed use project, including over 100 luxury senior living homes and cottages;
- Serving as Consumer Protection Counsel to the Consumer Protection Committee
of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Real Property Section investigating
consumer protection concerns related to the unauthorized practice of law in the
residential real industry;
- Represented national developer and owner of Senior Care Communities to secure
zoning, variance, infrastructure, and other entitlements necessary for construction
of Senior Care housing facilities in North Carolina;
- Represented gas station owner in annexation and rezoning matters, and
to secure water and sewer infrastructure needed to expand business;
- Represented association of 30 auto service businesses located in Cary's downtown central business and successfully negotiated with Town leaders to change proposed zoning provisions intended to amortize auto service
businesses out of existence to make way for "urban revitalization";
- Represented auto salvage yard business seeking special use permit to continue
operations in downtown Raleigh location;
- Represented purchaser in $800,000 acquisition of commercial property by national
fast food chain;
- Represented home builders and developers to secure environmental permits to cross streams
and impact riparian buffers and wetlands necessary for residential and commercial construction;
- Represented owner and developer of residential golf course community and
secured necessary permits for infrastructure construction;
